Splitting Fingers and Cuticles

Splitting fingers, fingertips and cuticles can be very painful. One of the reasons that split fingers don’t heal quickly is that bacteria will grow in these spaces. Many people use hydrogen peroxide to kill bacteria. Full strength hydrogen peroxide often kills perfectly good skin cells at the same time. Honey has hydrogen peroxide releasing very slowly and has been used for thousands of years for healing wounds. Because of this bacteria will not grow in the presence of honey.

Take the tiniest bit of Thentix ‘Touch of Honey’ from the spout and work it into your splitting fingers hangnails/cuticles 3-5 times per day.  Often, if you catch these things early enough, they can be closed up by the end of the day.  If there is more damage to the skin it may take two or three days.  Other factors, such as improper hydration, can also affect the rate of healing.

Once cleared up you can often prevent splitting skin on the fingertips by putting a little on once or twice a day.  You don’t necessarily have to cover the whole hand – just that tiny area around the fingernails.
