The Benefits of Grapeseed Oil for Skin Care

If you purchase skin care products and look closely at the ingredients, you very likely see something called propylene glycol, a somewhat toxic substance. I know many people that won’t even purchase or use a skin cream with this ingredient. Something that can be used in its stead is grapeseed oil. But wonderfully enough, grapeseed oil is not just an inert filler/replacement. Where propylene glycol was dangerous to your health, grapeseed oil is wonderful for your skin and general health.

Skin is made up of cells (obviously). Collagen is one of the primary components of the cell membranes and is what determines the skin’s strength, elasticity and smoothness. Collagen is manufactured with Vitamin C and the absorption of Vitamin C is increased by the presence of Bioflavinoids. Grapeseed oil contains a unique type of bioflavinoid. Thus, for anti-aging, including grapeseed oil as an ingredient for skin care and as a replacement for propylene glycol you will get rid of the harmful effects of one and the benefits of the other.

No one enjoys the pain and irritation of acne. There are hundreds of products and theories for helping, clearing up and preventing acne. We have a couple of solutions that help clear up acne here. The anti oxidant and anti inflammatory properties of grapeseed oil are also effective in fighting acne. Whether you understand what ‘free radicals’ are or not, most people understand that they are harmful. (Free Radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that can attack normal cells, destroying them or causing them to mutate which can be a precursor to cancer.) One of the properties of grapeseed oil is that it absorbs these free radicals thus protecting the cells membranes.

In the same way, the cell structure of capillaries can be attacked by free radicals. Grapeseed oil can again, by absorbing the free radicals, also help strengthen capillaries which will ultimately improve circulation.

These are a couple of ways that grapeseed oil can help topically. There are many other ways that it can be used internally as well. It can even be used for cooking.
