Thentix: A Gardening Hand Cream

We have found one of our largest markets to be gardeners. Thentix is very popular at Flower and Garden shows. If you are doing any amount of gardening at all, you are probably washing your hands more than the average person. As wonderful as it is digging in the dirt, it works into the pores and to keep your hands clean you will tend to wash them more often. The soaps and water that you use also tend to dry out your skin. If you are gardening early or late in the season, you have the added factor of the cold to make things worse. Your skin can easily get dry and cracked. It’s not always easy or practical to wear gloves. It would be nice to have something to put on your hands to help the skin retain moisture. Honey does just that.

One of the properties of honey is that it is a humectant:

A humectant is something that helps the skin retain moisture and draws moisture from the air.

When we are doing shows with Thentix, we have people put a small amount on their hands (you don’t need a lot) and then walk around for an hour or so. We also ask them to wash their hands in that time. You will find, when doing this, that the skin on your hands will feel as soft or softer after washing them. This is because the honey helps draw the moisture into the skin. Most hand creams and hand lotions rely on oils but what the skin needs is water.

Honey is the main ingredient of Thentix. The honey and other ingredients such as chamomile and calendula also have antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties which will help protect any cuts and scratches that you get while digging in the garden.

Enjoy – we’d love your feedback on uses in this area!
